It is unknown for sure if Ben graduated from Timpson High School but if he did it would have been around 1921. We know through a newsapaper article that he played on Timpson's first football team in the fall of 1920.
Funeral services for Ben Powers, 70, of Grosbeck,were held 3 p,m., Saturday, in Mangum Funeral Home Chapel.
The Rev. Lynn Parker officiated and burial was in Oaklawn Memorial Park Cemetery at Center. He died Thursday, March 1, in Grosbeck.
A native of Shelby County, he was a former Shelby County Deputy Sheriff and had resided in Grosbeck for the past 22 years.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Irene Mask of Grosbeck; two daughters,Mrs. Louise Penn of Philadelphia, Pa., and Mrs. Sue Martic of Houston; one brother, Marcus Powers of Timpson and three grandchildren.
