Willie who was known as "Jiggs" by everybody died in 1988.  He lived with wife Sybil in Georgetown which is part of the Blair Community.

"Jiggs" Willie Herndon, age 71, of Timpson passed away at his residence on Sunday morning, July 10, 1988.  Willie Herndon was born on June 19, 1917 in Timpson, Tx.  His parents were George D. and Clara Worshm Herndon.  Mr. Herndon was retired from the State Highway Department and member of Good Hope Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Sibyl Mayfield Herndon of Timpson; one son, Willie H. Herndon, Jr., of Center; three sisters, Savilla Askins and Louise Frederick of Timpson and Lester Harris of Woodville; and two grandsons, Mark and Ward Herndon, both of Center.

Services were held July 12. 1988 at 10:00 am at the Taylor Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Elemer Mathews, pastor of Good Hope Baptist Church officiating.  Interment was in Blair Cemetery.  Pallbearers were: Billy Mack Walton, Royce Gilchrist, Pete Flournoy, Buford Mims, Sonny Tippett, and Henry Porterfield.  Honoray pallbearers were Wallace Crawford and the Highway Dept. employees.
